First Day

We started our trip today and it was great to leave the driveway.  We’ve spent so much time over the last several months decluttering, cleaning, and fixing things in the house that we are so glad to get away.

The scenery was beautiful going through Maryland and Pennsylvania.  The mountain are green and the wild flowers are blooming.  The only problem was the usual delays when you get on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  I don’t think I have ever driven on the turnpike without hitting congestion due to construction and/or maintenance.  We found that using the Waze app allowed us to see the light at the end of the tunnel and bear the delay a little better.

We are staying in a KOA outside of Pittsburgh.  When we arrived it was 85 degrees.  The dogs were glad to get out of the car but clearly didn’t appreciate the heat.  It is beginning to cool down and they just had dinner, so I they are feeling perkier.  Dart can handle anything as long as he gets to play with his flying disk (a.k.a. frisbee). I’m worried the most about Tekoe.  But, she’s looking good right now.

We are amazed at how good the broadband access is here.  We weren’t expecting it.  Perhaps as the evening advances more campers will get on and we’ll be slowed to a crawl.  So far, we’ve found that the access offered in most campgrounds is barely usable.  It’s a pleasant surprise to have such good access right now.

Today I regret not taking a picture of a cow I saw in Pennsylvania.  This cow was pure black on the front end, pure black on the back end, and pure white in the middle.  I never saw anything like it before.  I clearly need to keep my good camera in the truck.  My cell phone camera would not have worked well because of the distance to the cow.  But, I should have tried anyway.

PS:  Hi Mom!!
