Another Crazy Road

Dart was in Canyonlands National Park.

Yesterday we went to Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park.  We got several good views of the surrounding area and the Colorado River.  We startled a Peregrine Falcon and the Peregrine Falcon startled us.  It was perched at the top of the cliff we were traversing and took off when we rounded the corner.  I was also buzzed by a few hummingbirds during the day.  I was wearing a bright pink shirt.

Regis selected an unpaved road to return from Canyonlands.  I thought it would be a nice stroll through the local countryside.  Oh my gosh was I wrong.  It was the craziest road I have ever been on.  The road a couple days ago was a warm up for this one.  The Park Service says the road should only be taken by high clearance four-wheel drive vehicles.  They are absolutely correct!!!!!

My adrenaline going down this road was off the charts.  Regis, behind the wheel, was about the happiest he has been in his entire life.  Dart was miserable.  It was an amazing experience and with the proper vehicle, I highly recommend it.  If you do not have the proper vehicle, do not go.

We drove by a Potash Mine and the water was an amazing blue color.

We plan to extend our stay here because we love this area and there is so much to see and do.

I haven’t mentioned that Dart has been having some significant digestive issues.  By yesterday, I had hoped that things were getting better but it does not appear to be the case.  I got the  information for a local vet to contact on Monday if he is not better by then. Because of some digestive issues Dart was having earlier this year, our local Florida vet gave me some medication for Dart in case he had issues during our trip.  Of course, I left without it. Ugh!  We are trying to manage his diet and hope things get better with him, but I am afraid we may need some medical help from a vet.  We’ve also been having problems with him getting pickier and pickier about what he will eat.  It is getting harder and harder to feed him.

We have so many beautiful pictures from yesterday, that we are not posting them all here.  We posted additional pictures on Flickr. The link for Flickr is located on the right side of this post.  It says click “more photos” and it will take you to the Flickr site.
